The team of experts from Poly Enterprises made the trip out to Utica, NY and finished a project they started some time ago. It was a job that was done quickly but still took some time. Working with the customer to plan out exactly what would perfectly solve all their problems and look amazing while doing it takes a fair bit of conversation between us and you, and it’s always great to construct great new plans and ideas for decks, pergolas, fencing, and everything else. The customer that we worked with on this particular project was a custom deck—it is a Trex Deck in Transcend with custom made upper and lower curved decking. The steps are equipped with LED step riser lighting to make the whole thing that much more impressive, and we’re very proud of how great it turned out.
Highest Quality Decks Around
When we work with customers to create the best solution to their needs, we make sure the materials that we use are top of the line materials that can stand the test of time and look fantastic for the life of the product. The Trex deck that we used to create this custom deck is their Transcend line, meaning it’s the best quality that they produce. It is resistant to fading, staining, scratches, and mold with a 25-Year limited residential warranty. Along with being super strong and fantastic to look at, the material used in the manufacturing of the boards are 95% recycled—this is a great way of helping to preserve the outdoors that you are enjoying with your new deck or patio!

The Poly Enterprises team was out in Sauquoit, NY to install a small deck and railing project for one of our valued customers. They were looking for something that was just high enough to get to the entrance doorway without being so large as to take away from the beautiful tile stone ground. The answer to their problem was a small Trex deck/side porch with vinyl railings. When we come to you there is no project too big or too small and while this may be towards the smaller end of the spectrum, we put 100% into it and know that it will look great for years to come!
Decks and Railings
Adding a deck to your property raises the level of accessibility and comfort of your home. When you work with us we work with you to plan the size, shape, materials, and color of your deck. The first thing that you need to think about is what the deck will be used for. Is it something that you will be using to socialize and relax on or is it mostly for access to a raised door? For our customer in Sauquoit, they already had ample space for outdoor relaxation—they just wanted to add an elegant means for getting in and out of their home with a raised doorway.
We have a huge selection of styles for your decks and railings so you can be sure to get the combination that matches your home and makes your property look better than ever! Along with the color, the materials used are nearly as abundant and just as important—if not more. When you work with us the choice between vinyl and aluminum composite railings is one of the decisions you’ll have to make, they are two of the most popular materials that hold up very well in the seasonal weather of Central New York. Our vinyl railings are the most cost-effective and widely installed of materials, this is what our friends in Sauquoit went with and it ended up looking fantastic with their dark deck and warm grey siding.

Poly Enterprises took a trip back to Whitesboro, NY to build a custom exterior deck. Going with our popular composite decking and railing, we were able to give them a premium product, which will last for many years to come. The deck was designed to provide optimum space while still maintaining functionality and sleek aesthetics.
We installed 12-inch diameter concrete footers down to 4 ft. below grade, and went with 2 X 10 joist to provide a heavy-duty frame. Using hidden fasteners, we installed a hardwood blend composite decking which came out great, looking much like tropical teak wood. We completed the base skirting of the deck with decking installed vertically, which came out great.
Our customer was very happy with the install, and as always the neighborhood was happy to have Poly Enterprises back in their Whitesboro community!

The end of summer will be here before you know it and it’s time to start thinking about your deck and if it is ready to withstand our crazy Central New York seasonal changes. Most homeowners know they should strip, stain and seal their wood deck every few years to keep it looking good and safe, but did you know that composite or vinyl decking should also be checked up on?
Here are a few tips and tricks to keep your deck safe and new looking.
Check Railings And Banisters
Push on the railings and banisters of your deck to make sure there is no movement and repair if necessary. Ensuring your railings and banisters are sturdy and solid will prevent injury and future expense.
Look For Loose Or Corroded Fasteners
Look for loose nails or screws that can appear as a deck settles or shifts during changes in the ground throughout the seasons. It’s easy to get caught on a loose board or fastener, so keep an eye out for them.
Keep It Clean
Keeping your deck clean can help you spot any issues before they become bigger issues. If you have a wood deck and discover mold, take the time to clean it and apply a waterproof sealant. Be careful what you use to clean, as well. Some harsher chemicals may make the job easier, but they may have a negative effect on your landscaping.
Check For Rot
Old or neglected wood decks will begin to rot and splinter over time. If your deck is showing signs of distress it may be time to consider a replacement deck made of composite or vinyl material. Composite and vinyl materials are less susceptible to rot and decay and requires less maintenance.
Using simple tips can help lengthen the life and beauty of your deck. If it is time to replace or upgrade your current deck, please call Poly Enterprises for your decking needs at (315) 843-4049 or get a free online quote today. Poly Enterprises was back in Marcy, New York to help renew and revitalize an old wood deck. We had replaced the old wood pool fence around their in-ground pool the past year with our popular vinyl pool fence, but the house deck and another detached deck needed some help.
A rotted deck could cause numerous problems for the homeowner and could also create a risk with homeowners insurance and more importantly causes a danger to anyone who uses the deck.
After removing the old railing and wood decking, we secured and straightened the wood frame to accept the new treated wood decking. We installed the new decking, and then moved on to installing the new vinyl railing. To keep the same look as the pool fence, we had the vinyl railing manufactured with the same baluster spacing and baluster type. It ended up looking great and accented the pool area very nicely.
Next we started on the house deck which although not very old needed to be updated with our popular Newport vinyl railing. After removing the existing treated railing we installed our new vinyl railing with each section being manufactured to the exact size eliminating waste and installation time. As always, our vinyl railing is reinforced with aluminum so it will not sag over time. We completed the install with a custom gate installed at the top of the stairs to secure the area for our customer’s two dogs. The install came out great and our customer was very pleased with the results.
They will enjoy many years of service from their new vinyl railing system which as always is backed by a lifetime warranty.

We recently visited Schuyler, New York to help our new customer with custom deck and railing construction. Needing an easy transition into the house, we custom designed a ramp which created the perfect solution. To ensure a long lasting product we used DuraLife composite decking and 100% virgin vinyl railing. After the initial planning phase, we created a digital blueprint to help our customer visualize their new decking.
We began the installation by framing and pouring a concrete footer. To ensure a solid platform we set the footer below the frost line at a depth of four feet. Using premium treated lumber from local Ilion, NY and JK lumber located in New Hartford, we framed the ramp and deck. While constructing the frame we used 6×6 posts and sleeved them with vinyl to produce a sturdy, elegant skeleton. After the frame was complete, we used DuraLife composite decking using a hidden fastening system. Putting the final touches on the decking system we installed vinyl lattice, creating a refined look.
Vinyl Railing Installation
After the DuraLife decking was installed, we followed up with virgin vinyl railing. Our customers loved the maintenance free nature of our vinyl railing and added their own design with Newport top rail. While most are skeptical about the strength of vinyl railing, we use aluminum stiffeners to ensure a solid product.
Water Guard Installation
After completing the composite deck, we were able to install a new roof system. Using ice and water guard on the entire roof we ensured our customers issues with leaking were a thing of the past. Once this was completed we installed premium vinyl soffit to enclose the roof structure and aluminum fascia to cover exposed wood.
The entire project created a revised and enhanced look for our customers home. Preventing leaks, minimizing maintenance, and ensuring years of peace of mind, our customers were extremely happy with the result.
