Poly Enterprises was back in Richfield Springs, NY to help secure our customers backyard to give them a secure area for their dogs. Located in the beautiful hills of Central New York, minutes away from Canadarago Lake on picturesque horse farm, we decided to utilize our Herkimer vinyl picket fence which contrasted well with the country feel of the property. Although it was a challenging fence install with the grade changes and custom angles and turns, the finished product came out great.
There are various options you can select from when installing a fence for your pets. A recent trend has been to use an electronic fence. This fence basically creates an “invisible line” around your property. You would then attach a device to your dog that would provide a shock if your pet went beyond the boundaries. These fences have many pros and cons and it really depends on your preference. In the beautiful countryside of Richfield Springs, property and land are a surplus. Plus a fence install looks great and you won’t have to deal with these issues of an electric fence.
Training & Installation: Electric dog fence needs training and installation. Average installation time and dog training time can vary, you might not realize what you are getting yourself in.
Power Source: Dog fence systems require an additional power source, indoors. Electricity creates an additional cost.
Shocking My Dog: This falls back to training your pet and although the shock is minimal some pet owners just don’t like doing this to their animal.
Coming off of the end of the house, it allowed for the dogs to be let directly out to the yard, and also nicely enclosed a new paver patio. Complete with two custom walk through gates, and a double gate to let the large lawn mower through, the install came out great. Our customers were very happy with the install, and the property was greatly enhanced by the picket style fence. Further, they will enjoy many years of use from their low maintenance vinyl fence and their dogs will be happy to have secure environment to play in.

We were back in Cooperstown, NY securing another in-ground pool installed by Geraty pools of Herkimer, NY. Working with our customer to provide a functional, and beautiful fence product that would stand up to the Central New York Weather, we decided to go with our Regis aluminum fence. The Regis Aluminum Fence will hold up to the various weather conditions.
- Winter – In Central New York extremes of cold, deep snow and chemicals used to melt ice can damage some types of fence materials but not the Regis Aluminum Fence, it won’t rust or corrode from salt and other chemicals used to melt ice.
- Wind – The open designs of Regis Aluminum Fencing lets the wind pass with ease resulting in minimal wind resistance.
- Heat – Excessive heat and sunlight can quickly fade unpainted wood fences and reduce the strength. A Regis Aluminum Fence will not be damaged from the heat because of the aluminum.
- Sun – The Regis Aluminum Fence won’t be affected by the sun’s ultraviolet rays, and will continue to look great for decades to come.
To accent the stamped concrete, we decided to go with a Bronze color, which contrasted well with the pool deck, and the surrounding woods.
As always our aluminum pool fence is powder coated with a durable finish which comes with a great warranty. Further, it utilizes a hidden fastener system, eliminating unsightly rivets or screws which are common on other types of aluminum fences. Available in many styles and heights, Regis aluminum fence can add beauty and value to you property, and is a great way to secure an in-ground pool.
After installing all the fence posts in concrete, making sure to utilize our laser leveling system to keep all the fence posts at the correct height, we installed the fence sections, customizing them as need to make for a clean install. We installed two arched gates complete with stainless steel hinges and magna latches. Everything turned out great, and our customer was very happy with the install and can now feel safe and secure with another premium aluminum pool fence installed by Poly Enterprises.

Poly Enterprises took a trip back to New Hartford, NY to help our customer replace an old and deteriorating wood fence. Fences are for privacy and safety, of course, and to keep things instead of allowing anything to get out it is important that you have a safe and secure fence installed.
If you do have a rotting fence and a fence replacement isn’t a current option there are a few options to preserve your fence as well as a couple general tips to help preserve the life of your wooden fence.
- Sink your fence post in cement.
- Creosote will prevent against insects and also weatherproof your fence post.
- Use good wood. There is a difference in pine versus and cedar, for example
- Use a metal post instead. Metal won’t rot like a wood post.
Now back to our project. After securing the site, and deciding on the fence layout to maximize space and functionality, we decided to utilize our vinyl Fulton privacy fence with a picket top accent along the front and sides of the property. Along the back property line we went with a 4ft high brown vinyl coated chain link fence which was visually appealing, and yet unobtrusive enough to allow for the enjoyment of the woods and wildlife.
We installed a double 4ft gate in the front to allow for easy access, and went with our popular stainless steel hardware with a white finish. We also installed a nice 4ft service gate in the back complete with a magnetic latch. The fence replacement came out beautifully, and enhanced the property tremendously. Another job well done, and one more happy customer in Central New York.
